Trails, Birds, Butterflies

Today Susan, with camera, and I went on the trails, first to check out the new butterfly trail, then to see the butterflies and wildflowers in bloom. Actually we saw a few of the flowers in bloom that were planted 3 weeks ago. We also saw many butterflies, sulfur, monarchs and swallowtails, plus others. The highlight of the ride was an owl that wasn't happy we were there. She appeared to swoop towards us, likely to scare us away from what sounded like a chick squawking. We also saw many cardinals and a downy woodpecker. It was a little warm out there even though we were early. What a beautiful day. Susan was impressed with the new butterfly trail and we scouted new areas to plant more flowers.
